LETTER FROM IMAM
To the beautiful community of the Islamic Cultural Association of Farmington Hills,

Assalamu Alaykum WarahmatUllahi Wabarakatu,
I pray that Allah ﷻ allows for my message to reach you all at a time of high hopes and strong will. I am your brother in Islam, the slave of Allah ﷻ in dire need of His mercy, Imran Abdelhamid Salha. Alhamdulillah, Allah ﷻ has chosen in His utmost wisdom through the deliberation of the Executive Committee ( حفظهم الله تعالى ) to honor me with the responsibility of serving as your Imam. It is really just that, a major responsibility that Allah ﷻ will ask me about on the Day of Judgment, and so I seek Allah ﷻ’s guidance and support to keep me steadfast on that which is righteousness and wisdom.

Just a little bit about myself. My undergraduate studies were in Pre-Medical Studies in Rutgers University (NJ), after which I decided to attend Atlantic University School of Medicine currently located in Antigua (Caribbean Islands) in pursuit of becoming a Physician. There I was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences. It was at this point in my life where I knew that this was simply not the path for me, and there was a calling more fitting to the skill set that Allah ﷻ had blessed me with since I was a child. Alhamdulillah, I began leading taraweeh from the age of 16, and was involved in serious study circles with my mashaayikh in NJ from when I was 13.
After finishing a legitimate amount of rigorous curriculum with my mashaayikh in NJ, I held my first full-time Imam position in Jam-e Masjid of Boonton, NJ when I was only 21 years old. Since then, I have served Muslim communities all over America in the capacity of Imam, Assistant Imam, Youth Director, Religious Director, and Chaplain. My experiences have taught me a lot about Muslim Communities, and the challenges that our youth face on the ground. I feel blessed because the little knowledge that I have amassed and benefitted others with was all gathered within the confines of this Country. I did not have the honor of traveling overseas to study, but in a way I find this as a blessing because it goes to show that if one takes advantage of their local resources Allah will find for them a path towards their goals.
I am currently studying at Mishkah University pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Studies and looking to remain a student for just as long as I intend on being a teacher insha’Allah 🙂 Some of my hobbies include memorizing and translating classical Arabic poetry, and perfecting various tones of recitation of the Qur’an. Beyond Islamic hobbies, I am certified by the World TaeKwonDo Federation as a First Degree Black Belt.

My promise to this community is to be accessible. I disagree with a leadership that seeks to keep distance from the community to “maintain prestige and respect” from them. I want to be involved in whatever ways are helpful to you and your children that you have entrusted me with, to build a strong community that will set the foundation for the coming generations insha’Allah. For this reason I have dedicated a phone line for all and any community members to reach out to me via text message or phone call. Feel free to reach out to me, even if it is just sharing a nice joke 🙂

In the beginning of my message to you, I asked for
high hopes and strong will. I ask you all, as a community, to give this community your hope and to renew your will for the sake of contributing to the only cause that will come with us into our graves: the Cause of Allah ﷻ and His Prophet .ﷺ

Your new Imam and – more importantly – your brother in Islam,
Imam Imran Salha
